Sports Marketing Award 2012

The Sports Marketing Award is the most coveted award in the sports business industry for successful marketing projects in the field of sport. Following nomination of the ten best projects, the jury members will then use a points system to determine the “Top 3”. The winner will subsequently be honoured during a celebratory ceremony staged by pro event live-communication on the Main Stage at the SpoBiS on February 13, 2012.

In 2012, the three selection criteria of marketing success, innovation and trend are being complemented with the fourth category of sustainability for the first time. The growing trend towards sustainability in sport is taken into account with this new addition. The 2012 winner will receive the thoroughly fitting prize of an honorary patronage for the “Wilde Buche” forest reserve. 500m2 of ancient, over 190-year-old beechwood forest in the Eifel region of Germany will be spared from commercial exploitation and thus preserved in its original primeval forest state forever.

The application period ended on November 15, 2011. The nominated projects will be presented here shortly.

Prestigious expert jury to select the winners of the Sports Marketing Award

The members of the jury for the 2012 Sports Marketing Award have now been confirmed: ten representatives from the fields of business, science, sport and the media have been assigned this important task. The jury includes both “familiar faces” from previous years, as well as a few new additions.

Evaluating the projects submitted for the 2012 Sports Marketing Award on behalf of sponsoring companies are Olaf Markhoff (Nike Germany) and Manuela Rousseau (Beiersdorf) – in her capacity as Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Christian Riedle (IFM Medienanalysen), Tom Bender (German Football League, DFL) and Marcel Cordes (SPORT + MARKT) will also be giving their input. Competent support from the field of science is on hand in the form of Christoph Breuer (German Sport University Cologne), Claudia Kemfert (German Institute of Economic Research, DIW) and Herbert Woratschek (University of Bayreuth). Finally, rounding out the expert panel are media representatives Dieter Gruschwitz (ZDF) and Werner Starz (Eurosport). Selection of a winner is therefore in the hands of ten reputable, highly experienced specialists from all areas of professional sports marketing.
