BMW Sailing Team Wins 2010 Sports Marketing Award
This year’s trophy for best sports marketing concept went to Bavarian automaker, BMW, for its “Sailing Cup 2009” project. In the final round the car manufacturer went up against the marketing campaign “TU’s Haltern,” launched by the amateur football club of the same name, and the “Philipp Lahm Summer Camp” project, which finished in a close third.
Under the motto, “Sail with us, Dream with us,” (Mitmachen.Mitfahren.Mitfiebern.”) the Sailing Cup has recently become the largest amateur regatta series in the world, and the Bavarian Automaker deserves most of the credit. Our online voters agree, BMW’s use of marketing strategies to effectively combine the image of yachting and sales relevant CRM measures was a tremendous success.
In the tight race for second place, the TuS Haltern marketing campaign “Sustainability in Amateur Football” nosed out the competition. The CSR project, “Philipp Lahm Summer Camp,” which strove to empower the younger generation with a lasting desire to improve their lives, came in third
In total, 24 concepts were submitted for consideration for this year’s Sports Marketing Prize from which congress organizers, ESB and SPONSORs, chose ten finalists. The entire sports business industry came together to vote on the winner.
